Meet the InspirED Executive Producers
Erik Burmeister is the Superintendent of the Menlo Park City School District, having recently served as Assistant Superintendent and previously Principal of the district's Hillview Middle School, a model 21st Century School and 2015 California Gold Ribbon School. In partnership with the Stanford Design School, Erik has become an expert in applying design to solving a variety of education challenges. Erik was named Middle Grades Principal of the Year for the Association of California School Administrators and one of the three finalists for the NASSP National Middle Grades Principal in 2014 and was selected as the 2012 Multiplier of the Year in Education by the Wiseman Group. A thought leader in the field of design and education, Erik has co-founded The SchoolFWD Foundation with a mission to bring design solutions to leaders ready to make lasting change in their schools and districts.
Erin Raab, Ph.D. is the Founder & CEO of RE-ENVISIONED, a movement to catalyze a new conversation about schooling (www.re-envisioned.org). Her doctoral work centers around how to re-envision, re-design, and transform our schooling system to empower teachers and students as changemakers, in their own lives and communities. She has trained with Stanford’s d.school, and believes the mindsets that underlie design thinking will be key to any lasting transformational change in education. Previously, Erin was Founder & Executive Director of the KwaNdengezi Education Center in the KwaNdengezi township in South Africa. As Senior Researcher for MIET Africa, Erin worked closely with the South African Department of Basic Education to examine the extrinsic barriers to learning faced daily by many South African children. Erin's ventures all lead to learning and thinking deeply about new ways to create a system the fosters empowering learning experiences for educators and students.
Lisa Solomon is the coauthor of the Wall Street Journal bestseller, Moments of Impact: How to Design Strategic Conversations that Accelerate Change (Simon & Schuster, February 2014) and on the faculty at the interdisciplinary MBA in Design Strategy program at San Francisco's California College of the Arts. Lisa speaks on innovation and leadership at global conferences and top universities, and has designed and delivered innovation programs for executive teams in organizations such as Citi Ventures, ING, Herman Miller, Toyota Financial Services, The Packard Foundation, Public Broadcasting Service and the Kauffman Fellows Program for Venture Capitalists. In addition to her corporate work, Lisa collaborates extensively with educators and students to bring innovation and discovery skills into primary and secondary education. She is on the design team for The Nueva School’s Innovative Learning Conference, and frequently participates in design-driven innovation education summits.
